Western Bid Alternative: ExosPay vs WesternBid, Side by Side

A direct comparison for sellers from Ukraine and the CIS: WesternBid's ~4% agency commission vs ExosPay's 1.5% flat or 1% + $30/mo, PayPal and card rails, disputes, payouts, marketplace workflows, and where WesternBid is still the better pick.

Sellers from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and the rest of the CIS keep asking us the same question: how is ExosPay different from WesternBid? Fair question. WesternBid has been doing this since 2001 and does it competently. Here is the honest side-by-side, built on both companies' published terms, so you can decide with numbers instead of marketing.

The short version

Both companies solve the same core problem: Western payment providers will not open accounts in your country, so an intermediary accepts PayPal and card payments from your buyers and forwards the money to you. The differences are the price, the contract model, and what surrounds the payment.

The pricing math

On $10,000 a month in sales:

  • WesternBid at ~4%: about $400 in commission.
  • ExosPay at 1.5% flat: $150.
  • ExosPay at 1% + $30: $130.

The break-even between our own two plans sits around $6,000/month — below that, take the flat 1.5%; above it, the $30 plan wins. Against a 4% agency commission, either plan is a fraction of the cost at any volume.

Where WesternBid is genuinely stronger

Honesty first: if you need warehousing and shipping under the same roof — a US return address, fulfillment, integrated couriers — WesternBid bundles that and we do not. ExosPay deliberately stays out of logistics. You keep whatever 3PL, courier, or postal workflow you already use, and we stay focused on the money.

If integrated logistics is your deciding factor, WesternBid is the right tool. No hard feelings.

Where ExosPay is stronger

Price. A 4% agency commission is the single biggest line item most CIS sellers pay. Cutting it to 1–1.5% usually pays for itself in the first week of the month.

The contract model. ExosPay becomes the legal seller in your buyer's country. The buyer sees a clear statement name, disputes and chargebacks are answered by us, and the tax scope is written into your agreement before anything goes live. You are not renting someone's account — you have a counterparty with obligations.

More than a payment pipe. ExosPay operates as a full e-commerce agency: if you want, we launch your store on Shopify, Etsy, eBay, or Amazon, manage it day to day, and run the payment side under one agreement. If you only want the payment layer, take only the payment layer.

Modern operations. Every payment is reconciled daily against the processor's own records, disputes are tracked in one dashboard, and payouts follow a written schedule — not a support ticket.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose WesternBid if you want payments and physical logistics from one vendor and a 4% commission is acceptable for that convenience.
  • Choose ExosPay if you want the lowest cost of accepting PayPal and cards, a legal seller standing behind the transaction, and optionally a team that runs your storefront — while keeping the shipping setup you already trust.
